This explains what we collect through this website, why we collect it, and how to get it removed. It covers www.direct-motor-sales.com only. Last updated July 2026.

Who we are

What you give us directly

When you fill in a form on this site we keep what you typed. Which fields those are depends on the form:

• Every form: your name, and a phone number or email address so we can reply.
• Contact and vehicle enquiries: your message, and which vehicle you asked about.
• Value my trade: the year, make, model, mileage, condition and optionally the VIN of your vehicle.
• Test drives: your preferred dates and times.
• At-home test drive and delivery: the street address you want us to come to, and any access notes.
• Start your purchase: how you intend to pay, whether you are trading in, and the state of registration.

We ask for a payment method on the purchase form, never card or bank numbers. No payment details are collected or stored anywhere on this website.

What is collected automatically

Each page view is logged so we can see how the site is being used. That record holds your IP address, the pages you viewed and when, the site that referred you, and your browser and device type. It does not identify you by name.

These records are deleted after 180 days. Traffic we identify as automated crawlers is excluded from our reporting.

Cookies

This site sets one cookie, and only when it needs to: a session cookie that keeps your form entries and security token attached to you while you are filling something in. It expires when you close your browser. We use no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels and no third-party analytics service.

Other companies that see something

• Google Fonts supplies the typefaces. Loading them tells Google your IP address.
• Google Maps powers the map in the footer. If it loads, Google may set its own cookies.
• Our web host stores the site and its database, and keeps standard server logs.
• CARFAX, where a report link is provided, is a separate company with its own policy.

What we do with it

We use what you send us to answer your enquiry, arrange a test drive or delivery, value your trade, and keep a record of the conversation so the next person you speak to is not starting from nothing. We use the traffic records to see which vehicles get attention and where the site is confusing.

What we do not do

We do not sell your information. We do not rent, trade or share it with dealer networks, lead brokers, marketing companies or data aggregators. We do not send marketing email unless you asked to be told when a particular vehicle arrives, and every one of those has an unsubscribe.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept while they are active and for a reasonable period afterwards, because people come back months later about the same car. Traffic logs go after 180 days. Sale records are kept as long as tax and title law requires. Ask us to delete something and we will, unless we are legally required to keep it.

Your choices

Write or call and you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. We do not require you to use a form or prove anything unusual — a phone call is enough. Depending on where you live you may have these rights by law; we offer them to everyone regardless.

Most browsers let you block cookies entirely. This site still works if you do, though forms may complain about an expired session.

Children

This site is meant for people old enough to buy a car. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, call us and we will remove it.

Security

The site runs over an encrypted connection and the admin area is password protected. No website is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If something goes wrong in a way that affects you, we will tell you.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the homepage.
